Last week, Edwin and I had the loveliest treat with a Zero George Charleston staycation. You may remember reading about Zero George in my Beginner’s Guide to Charleston post last month so I’m excited to share a little bit more about one of my favorite charming historic Charleston boutique hotels today + the skinny on what I wore.
Edwin and I have both been working really hard and making some life moves. So we were doing a bit of celebrating with our staycation… more on this to come on the blog! I’ve actually stayed at Zero George once before years ago, right when the hotel opened and have since been back for drinks and dinner but I’ve been dying for an excuse to stay on the property again. It is so gorgeous, intimate, romantic, and inspiring… I joked that I wish we were celebrities who could move to Charleston. Then have a permanent room at the hotel for a few months while we filmed a movie. Ha, a girl can dream!
This post is timed perfectly because I’m excited to actually be heading back to Zero George tonight for dinner at Zero Restaurant with my girlfriend Lauren who is coming into town and staying at the hotel for the weekend!

What I Wore on our Zero George Charleston Staycation
To start off, I’m going to share a bit about what I wore on our Zero George Charleston staycation. I wore one of my absolute favorite purchases of 2018: these pink satin mules. I’m obsessed! They are so comfortable and I just feel really great when I walk out the door in them. Can a shoe get any cuter!?
I also wore my current favorite pair of jeans, these high-rise toothpick jeans with a cut hem. The J.Crew Toothpick Jeans have long been my favorite jeans I own because of their comfort, price, and overall fit + appearance. J.Crew always releases new pairs with different rises, washes, and hems. So I have a few pairs now from over the years. The light wash of this pair is making them my go-to for spring. I can’t get enough of the cut hem! If you’re looking for a new light wash pair of jeans for the season, then I can’t recommend these enough.
My one shoulder top is adorable too (it also comes in a dress!) and my clutch is 10 years old but, luckily, I found some similar styles for you. Take a peak at my favorite pink mules + straw clutches:
Zero George Charleston
There are so many fabulous hotels in Charleston. Honestly it can be hard to decide where to stay when booking a trip. Ever since my first stay at the hotel years ago with my mom and my sister, I loved everything about Zero George, including the name. The boutique hotel is named for its street address. It’s comprised of three beautifully restored historic residences and two brick carriage houses that surround a lovely private garden courtyard.
Best part: there are porches everywhere (a southern staple). My favorite part of our staycation was wasting away the evening with a long, relaxing glass of white wine on the porch off our room. Bliss! As locals, we decided to soak in every minute at the hotel but if I was visiting Charleston from out of town, I’d definitely make plans to take advantage of all the hotels offers including workout passes, sailing, historical tours, cooking classes, and more.
Zero George Restaurant
In my Beginner’s Guide to Charleston, I declared Zero George to be my top pick in the city for a foodie stay and it’s so true! I mentioned above that I’m having wine and cheese at happy hour at the restaurant bar (most likely the porch actually, ha!) as well as dinner there tonight at Zero Restaurant + Bar with Lauren and I’m literally counting down the minutes… it’s that delicious, foodie, and interesting.
The food literally keeps you on the edge of your seat, if you will. They have a regular menu, a tasting menu, wine pairings, the most inventive food, an intimate cozy atmosphere and everything else you could ever want. It’s a great place to go out to eat in Charleston for a nice dinner. Or it’s great for when friends come to town.
