Believe it or not, I was never planning to shoot this outfit. I had a completely different outfit all planned out but when it came down to shooting time, I was just too darn cold to put on the outfit I intended to wear. I shot this look on our coldest day in the city and my was it cold. So, I laughed, said I can’t do it, and instead shot in the outfit I had been wearing around all day. I’ll still try to shoot my original look back in Los Angeles where it might be a little bit more appropriate and I won’t look like such a fool, ha! So, this post turned into an outfit of winter staples in New York City. I wore this outfit literally all over the city one day – to breakfast at Buvette in the West Village, to the Top of the Rock in Midtown, and to the 9/11 Memorial Museum in lower Manhattan (I changed before drinks with friends at The Marlton and dinner at Pasquale Jones – soooo yummy!).
My cozy gray knit sweater was a Christmas gift from Edwin. It’s such a fun piece because it’s super warm but open on the sides so it’s fun to let a cute shirt pop through. I decided to layer gray on gray by putting a gray and white stripe shirt on under the sweater (you can’t see the sleeves of my shirt but they are a fun surprise!). It would also be super cute with navy and white stripes layered underneath (yup, I’m a stripe lover!).
I got this thick white coat from the Loft two winters ago because I really wanted to add a white coat to my coat lineup. I love the winter white look! I found a bunch of similar white coats below so you can snag the look too (like this one!).
There’s an old fashion rule that you can’t wear red and pink together but I’m here to tell you that you can! I mixed this dusty pink scarf (similar) with this bold red purse (similar) for the perfect balance of pastel and bright color.
