I love a great day date! When I look back over the years, I find that many of my most favorite and most memorable dates with Edwin were day dates. In fact, the day we got engaged, Edwin and I went on the best day date in Malibu and then Edwin proposed that evening when we got back to my apartment (I was completely unsuspecting!). A day date is great because it usually involves an activity, a lovely al fresco lunch, or both! If the activity isn’t hiking or something else that requires a specific outfit, then I usually stick to a tried and true formula that always works when it comes to what to wear on a day date.

What to Wear on a Day Date
So, what’s my tried and true spring and summertime day date outfit? A sundress (more sizes here and here) and a pair of super cute flats – usually espadrilles (as seen on me in this post), sandals, or ballet flats. When you are single and dating around, getting dressed for dates can be a bit stressful. I love a dress for this reason because you only have to select one main piece of clothing to wear so you don’t have to worry about putting together a whole outfit. There’s also no denying that dresses are feminine and flirty so a casual sundress on a day date always fits the bill. Edwin sees me wear a lot of comfortable workout wear during the week so, when we go on a day date, I always like to honor the fun in it by getting dressed in a cute dress!
When it comes to searching for the perfect day date sundress, I have a few brands I often gravitate toward. One such brand is Faithful the Brand, which is the make of my dress (more sizes here and here) in this post! Espadrilles are as comfortable as they are cute, which is why I consider them a day date staple.
