Weekend Reads, No. 126

Charleston, South Carolina
filed under:

Happy Easter Sunday! I imagine none of us are celebrating Easter the way we imagined this year. Edwin and I were meant to be in NYC this weekend for the wedding of one of Edwin’s dear friends before flying home to celebrate Easter with my family today in Charleston.

This month, we also had plans for Edwin’s parents to come visit us, which we were so excitedly anticipating! We had a whole list of places we wanted to take them and show them. In addition, we were planning to go to California this month to see our niece and newphews, the rest of Edwin’s family, my sister, and to meet baby William.

Alas, the wedding has been rescheduled for a year from now, we’ll play tour guide to Edwin’s parents another time, and we’ll get to see the faces of our California loved ones in person another month. It is all uncharted territory as is this Easter.

My hope for each one of you is that you have the happiest Sunday of all your quarantine Sundays today. I hope you are either still getting dressed up and setting the table for the fun of it or cozied up with comfort food and love around you. I have no problem saying it – I love the commercialization of Easter. It really makes me happy! However, I never forget the true meaning of Easter.

He is risen!

It is my humble opinion that the Lord and his son Jesus Christ are all around us wrapping us up in unconditional love, grace, understanding, and salvation. Even if you don’t celebrate Easter or if you celebrate Passover or something else in the springtime, I hope today is a special Sunday to remember! xx

Keep reading for my Weekend Reads, No. 126 complete with the most gorgeous Easter and Passover tablescapes, tips for managing your mental health during COVID-19, the grandmillennial’s guide to staying home, directions for how to cook artichokes, gardening for beginners, ideas for how to host a virtual cocktail party, a self-portrait photoshop tutorial, an indoor shrimp bbq recipe, thoughts on making sense of a miscarriage during the Coronavirus crisis, Oscar best pictures ranked best to worst, DIY stitching kits, and more!

P.S. These photos are from a happy weekend last spring in Palmetto Bluff. I’m wearing a Sea top similar to this top. Take me back!

P.S.S. In case you still don’t have any masks, here’s how to make your own face masks at home.
