Wedding Wednesday: How I Asked My Bridesmaids

filed under:

Happy Wedding Wednesday loves! I’m so so excited to be sharing this week’s wedding post with y’all because I absolutely love the topic and loved putting it all together. This edition of my series is titled “Wedding Wednesday: How I Asked My Bridesmaids” and you guessed it… it’s all about what I gifted to my best girlfriends when I asked them to stand next to me on my big day!

It was really important to me to design my own box instead of using a company to make one (although a handful of companies do a beautiful job!). I wanted the first thing my girls to receive from me to feel special, feel like it came from me, and be related to Charleston (more on picking Charleston for our wedding here). So, with the help of my mom, I picked out all the lovely little pieces inside my boxes and then my mom, my sister (MOH), and I assembled them!

It’s all about the packaging! My mom tracked down these gorgeous white boxes with the white ribbon. They were exactly what I was envisioning and I was so happy to discover that the company that makes them creates the boxes in numerous different sizes. To give the all white look a little sparkle, I went with white and gold stuffing.

I got the ‘Will You Be My Bridesmaid’ cards at my favorite paper store, Sugar Paper. the gold stuffing tied in perfectly with the gold foil on the card!

I made the boxes Charleston special with two main items: the Charleston Rice Beads and the Charleston candle. I’m seriously obsessed with Charleston Rice Beads! I go into the store that sells them, Candy Shop Vintage, every single time I’m in Charleston. People always ask me if they can only get Rice Beads in Charleston. While the jewelry does have a special Charleston story, Candy Shop Vintage sells the bracelets online too as well as at their boutique. Score! I already can’t wait to see the fall colors that come out this year. For my girls, I went for the shiny gold color because it felt a little more formal and a little more wedding appropriate. Maybe one of my bridesmaids will wear her rice bead bracelet at my wedding!

The Charleston candle is made by Roam. If you aren’t familiar with Roam candles, then I highly suggest you check them out. They make the candles for a handful of different cities but I’m obviously partial to the Charleston one!

Also in my box, my favorite little treat that I give to every bride-to-be and every girl with a little bling in her life, Bling Wipes! How cute is the packaging? Bling Wipes are the only thing I use to clean my engagement ring so they were a must for my boxes.

The nail polish I included is called “Love Story” by Deborah Lippman. I actually looked through dozens of nail polish colors for the perfect color and perfect name until I found this gem! I wanted the name of the polish to be right because little touches like that always make gifts more special.

Last but not least, the sweet treats and bubbles! A tip I’ve learned: if it’s wedding related then always include champagne! I opted for cute mini bottles of champs. I also have a small addiction to Sugarfina candies. The sour champagne bears I included can easily be consumed in one sitting… watch out!

  1. Oh my gosh, what a fun and thoughtful way to ask your girlfriends! This might be the best box I’ve ever seen. I want everything in it from the rice beads to the Sugarfina candies!
