Where does time go when I’m spending it treasuring my family in the here and now? I want time to slow down, to ease by like the slow drips of honey so I don’t miss a single smile, a single giggle, a single kiss, a single milestone. I want to savor it all. My boys are getting so big… Rowan a blossoming three-year-old boy and Henry is busy 18-month-old toddler. Where oh where did my babies go? Edwin and I say now that we feel like we have two children, not one child and one baby. It is so much fun and so on the go.
This time of year – the time of year where summer turns to fall, where no routine turns to the schedule of school days, where playing it by ear morphs into planned activities, and where big steps forward are marked and measured for children as they navigate all the newness that comes with the start of a new school year – is so busy yet so precious. I have unintentionally been absent on my blog and almost fully absent on Instagram due to this. I’ve simply put my focus elsewhere and somehow this time of year has been all-consuming with my children and their budding little lives. I’ve let that happen and loved it through and through.
As we’ve slipped into fall and settled into our post-summer schedules, I’ve checked a few big life items off the list (things like throwing Rowan’s 3rd birthday party – simple backyard parties always manage to take up so much more time and planning than seems possible) and have found a desire to return to my blog.

Treasuring My Family In The Here And Now
Since becoming a mother 3 years ago, this is how it has been for me – a teetering back and fourth between being completely centered on my family while letting some other parts of me fall still for a little and yearning for more of a balance with my mothering and also putting myself out there in other ways (ways like my blog). I always come back to the blog. I really love blogs. While my blog accumulates dust for weeks or months at a time in certain stretches, it also always feels like a happy place for me to share and settle into when I feel called to.
I have more aspirations for it but I feel so strongly that these are the years when my children are really little and I’ll never get them back. I think I have some drive and passions in life that I will dedicate myself to more in coming years when my children are a bit older but, for now, I don’t mind the teetering back and fourth.
All this to say, I have some blog posts I’m working on so stay tuned. But, it has been the biggest pleasure to spend these past few months treasuring my family in the here and now. Summer to fall. A two-year-old to a three-year-old. A crawling baby to a running toddler. Life moves so very fast and not at all like the pace of dripping honey that I so often yearn for. I’m curious, what do you think about this time of year? Do you mourn the end of easy breezy summer days or crave the predictable routine of school weeks? Do you wish for time to slow down or long for time travel to the holidays?

I’m so excited to be dressing my boys for a new season.
I just recently stocked up on a lot of new fall season items for Rowan and Henry so I need to do a roundup of what I’ve been eyeing and buying. In these photos, my boys and I are all wearing one of my favorite children’s brands, Baybala. Baybala does a marvelous job of designing durable, adorable, and comfortable clothing for not just little girls but for little boys too (something that, in my opinion, not all children’s brands do, which was the reason I gravitated toward the brand when I first discovered it about 2 and a half years ago).
They also design effortless clothing for women and design with matching sibling sets in mind. So brilliant. I’d say my boys are ready for fall weather! Our mornings are divine with our afternoons warming up still in Charleston and calling for the stripping of sweaters. Soon enough it will be sweater weather all day. Can’t wait.
Rowan’s sweater and pants + Henry’s onesie and romper just melt my heart. I’m writing this blog post at the perfect time because Bayala is having their annual anniversary sale, which is their biggest sale of the year. Everything is 30% off with code ANNIVERSARY30.
