In light of yesterday’s post about the perfect summer to fall dress, I’m going to share tips for building a seasonless wardrobe with y’all today. I’m a true believer in creating a wardrobe that can take you seamlessly and beautifully from season to season. There is no better feeling that having a closet full of pieces you love that can be worn and styled differently but successfully throughout the year. One of the reasons I love my outfit in today’s post is because the pieces in it can be worn on an easy breezy summer day or on a cool crisp fall day. All you have to do is make a few simple tweaks and the outfit can go back and fourth between seasons!

The Dress
I discovered this dress at Garnet Hill (it comes in another print too!) and immediately flipped for it’s light and breezy nature. I scooped it up in a blue print because I love blue in the summer but thought the print was gorgeous for autumn. Also, I saw the potential of being able to wear the dress out and about in the summer and then layer over it in the fall making it a perfect transitional piece! Finding the potential to wear wardrobe pieces as standalone items as well as foundational items to build and layer on is one of my key tips for building a seasonless wardrobe.
Cargo Jacket
My organic-cotton jacket (it also comes in a navy gray color) is the perfect weight for cool summer evenings and crisp fall days. The neutral color makes it easy to wear anytime of year. I love that the jacket can be cinched at the waist giving it a relaxed but ladylike silhouette. I wore this outfit one evening in Jackson Hole where the temperatures are already dropping to the 40s at night. So I added a floral scarf (it also comes in three other prints) around my neck. If I wore this outfit during the day in Jackson Hole or on a summer day anywhere else, then I’d tie the scarf around my purse to give the outfit an extra burst of color.
The Booties
I styled booties with this outfit to make it a little more summer appropriate. But as we move closet and closet to autumn, I will style it with knee-high boots (one, two, three)! Do you see how easy it is to build a seasonless wardrobe? A few tweaks here and there and an outfit can transition back and fourth between seasons easily!
