I had big plans when I scheduled the shoot for this outfit post. I had outfit inspiration and a timeline for when I wanted to have my outfit together etc. but then I got engaged and it all went out the window. Don’t get me wrong, I’m NOT complaining. I’d definitely take getting engaged over staying on top of one little work project (Right? Who wouldn’t!?) but when it was suddenly the night before I was set to shoot and I had nothing planned, I had a minor freak out. So, I thought to myself, instead of planning a whole coordinated outfit (which I love to do in real life and on the blog), why don’t I do an outfit post wearing a simple look that I’ve been wearing tons lately… summer stripes.
Cue this stripe monogram boyfriend long sleeve tee from J.Crew. I first took notice of it because of the stripes. My eyes got big. Then I saw that it could be monogramed. My heart started to swell. Next, I saw that it was a boyfriend loose fit style so I knew it would look adorable juxtaposed with fitted jeans or as a bathing suit cover-up on a breezy day. My brain shut down and I clicked purchase.
I ordered the stripe long sleeve first in the light blue and white stripe and added a navy monogram. I got it in a small and loved the loose fit but also thought I could easily wear an extra small and still have it be flowy. So, I scooped it up in navy and white stripes and added a red monogram (hello, the 4th of July is around the corner) because you can never have too many summer stripes. Both fits are great! I’ve been wearing the small tee more as a bathing suit cover-up and the extra-small more with skinny jeans. You also must know that J.Crew has a whole section of stripe shirts for summer! Side note: I can’t believe my monogram will change when I get married!!
My summer stripes style is off to a great start because I’m excited to share that I’ll be doing a little work over the next few months as a summer editor at Bond Twenty. Be sure to check in every few days to keep up with the fun!
These espadrilles. When am I not wearing them? A friend literally asked me last week if they were the only pair of shoes in my closet. They are just too darn cute and easy to throw on! Plus, they stick with my summer stripes theme. My future sister-in-law got them for me… thanks lady love!
I must also say that I think this backdrop is so light, airy, and gorgeous. It’s actually the hidden entrance to one of my favorite beachy boutiques on Abbot Kinney (it’s really on the backside of Abbot Kinney) called ATF. If you’re shopping around there, it’s a must. I also recommend popping into Steven Alan, The Piece Collective, Rag & Bone, and Sundry for clothing shopping.
I love toting around a great straw bag all summer! I’ve already used this one down in Del Mar and I plan on using it much more in the coming months. It’s sold out now but I linked a bunch of similar ones in the widget below that are mostly under $100, under $75, or under $50. Thanks Edwin for nailing this bag as a birthday present!
Long Sleeve Tee (only $45!) / Jeans (distressed similar for less) / Espadrilles / Bag (sold out – similar, similar) / Belt (also love this one) / Watch (25% off!) / Earrings

P.S. my engagement ring was getting sized when I shot this summer stripes outfit so it’s not pictured.
