Stripe Popover

Stripe Popover

filed under:

I love today’s outfit because it’s totally my everyday look: preppy, classic, and versatile. Plus, I love me some popover tops! This stripe popover top is such a staple in my closet. My top comes in a handful of colors including: white, pale blue, navy, and olive green. I, of course, was partial to the stripe version. I think it’s important to note that I need another blue and white stripe top like I need a hole in my head! Anyway, I love it because I can wear it to work and wear it after work with a pair of chunky heels or ankle strap heels to drinks.

There’s a story behind my heels (similar). I ordered them back in February (yup!) without realizing that they were back ordered. I received them in May…. you can imagine my anticipation. Since getting them in the mail, I’ve been making up for lost time and wearing them all around town… to a lunch meeting at Gracias Madre, to happy hour, to Shore Bar, to Charleston, you name it. They also come in black!

Edwin gave me this jeweled link bracelet for Christmas two years ago and I still wear it all the time, year-round!

I scooped this top up in stripes (because you know how I love blue and white stripes!) but I’m dying for the solid white version as well. I think the white popover paired with white jeans would be the perfect look for a summer work party.

Is anyone dying over how gorgeous the bouganvia is in these photos or is it just me? Los Angeles perks!

  1. Ahh those shoes are so cute! I’m so mad they’re out of stock in my size, they would have been perfect for my sister’s wedding- grass and thin heels are not best friends, so I needed a chunkier heel. One thing I noticed in LA was definitely the amazingly colorful flowers and cacti everywhere, I’m so jealous of you guys!

  2. Hi Jilllian, I really love this outfit because I find that it’s so me. A typical summer day outfit with clean simple lines 🙂 I did have a quick question though: does your fiance (are you used to this yet? haha) take your pictures? They are always so adorable and the background always feels well thought out. Would you mind sharing a bit of this aspect of the blog? (do you take pics after work or do a big chunk on the wknd to carry your posts through the week). Anywho, a little curious over here. Thank you! 🙂

    1. Hi Rakela, thannk you so much! It’s a great summer look! Absolutely, happy to share… my fiancé takes some of the photos I post of me on Instagram but for my official outfit posts I use a photographer. My photographer shoots weddings so we always shoot after work and never during the weekends. It is very difficult and stressful to get the shoots in in the winter when it gets dark so early! Thanks so much for your kind words about them! Please let me know if you have any more questions and feel free to shoot me an email. 🙂 XO, Jillian
