Happy first day of spring! To mark the first day of the warm weather season, I’m sharing a gorgeous floral smocked sundress styled with my favorite straw accessories: a basket bag and raffia sandals (also love these). It’s a simple and easy yet lively and slightly dressy spring look that can be worn all through the season and through summer as well. Let me be the first to tell you, this smocked sundress is just as comfortable as it is cute! Is anyone doing anything special after work to kick off the new season? Edwin and I are in California so we’re celebrating with an al fresco dinner with friends in La Jolla!

Special occasions for me growing up were marked by my sister, Sarah, and I wearing matching smocked dresses. So I absolutely die over little girls in smocked dresses, which I clearly get from my mother. I’m happy to say that the smocked dress look can easily be translated into adulthood… I’m living proof in this Tory Burch smocked sundress (also remember this smocked dress I wore earlier this year?)!
The smocking is super comfortable and makes the dress feel like an easy dress to throw on any day of the week. The tie sleeves give it a bit of a casual look, in my opinion. But, this dress is so great because it can be dressed up super easily with a pair of heeled sandals. P.S. Tory released the print of my dress in a lot more gorgeous pieces that I rounded up for y’all here:
I can’t get enough of these straw accessories. I mentioned in yesterday’s post, that I snagged this basket bag a few weeks ago when Dear Keaton came to Charleston for a pop-up shop (more available here and here). I’ve been carrying it on repeat ever since! I love these heeled raffia sandals (last seen here) so much and also can’t get enough of this similar pair that looks oh so comfortable.
Just in case you’re swooning over the smocked sundress style as much as I am, I rounded up a few other beautiful smocked dresses for y’all (some casual and some more dressy):

I have been eying this exact dress – it has been sitting in my online tory burch shopping cart but I just have not clicked buy yet (maybe because it is still freezing in NY so spring feels far away.) It looks so cute on you Jillian. love it. xo
