Hello hi! I’m tickled today to share the latest installment of my “Sitting Pretty With” interview series because today’s profiled gal is the absolute BEST. Cheers to sitting pretty with Annie Reeves of AnnieReeves.com and being completely happy about it! I’ve gotten to know Annie through blogging and through my time in Charleston. It has been a real treat because she is just about the sweetest person I know. She rings true to herself each and every day, which is amazing in this social media driven day and age and even more amazing in an industry like blogging where there is always pressure and competition. You can tell right away when you meet Annie that she has southern roots because she’s so darn upbeat and supportive. Her blog and Instagram are daily sources of inspiration for me and are the sources so often responsible for me trying to jet set to Charleston as often as I can. She impresses with her insane workload and schedule, she knows Charleston inside and out, she hits the mark every time with her outfits, she knows how to style a colorful yet cozy room, and she creates real and honest content about everyday life. Without further ado, Annie Reeves!
Pst, the inspiration is endless! You can read my past “Sitting Pretty With” interviews here with Allison Norton of Polka Dot Media and Krista Robertson of Covering the Bases.
Name: Annie Reeves
Neighborhood: Charleston, South Carolina
Job: Blogging at AnnieReeves.com, Marketing and Sales at Candy Shop Vintage, Content Creation at The Cassina Group

Let’s talk Business…
What motivated you to start you blog, AnnieReeves.com?
During the summer after my junior year, I found myself with a little down time and a big creative itch. I had just been introduced to the world of blogging (reading cupcakes & cashmere everyday!), and I wanted to start writing again. Since then, I’ve been motivated by the fact that when I’m excited about something (a sale, a trend, a restaurant, a concealer), I want to share it with everyone I know!
Describe your blog in 3 sentences or less.
My blog is a place where I aim to inspire, share, build community, and laugh. Each and every little thing is celebrated, and authenticity and sincerity abound.
What is a typical day in the life of Annie?
I like a routine, but my job(s) probably isn’t the most conducive to that structure! Mornings remain more or less consistent – I wake up between 6:45-8:00 (desperately wish I was a morning person), start the coffee, take Hasell out, and pour a hot cup when I come inside. Then, I flip on the Today Show and skim through my blog post for the day and post it to Facebook. If I have time, this is when I prefer to read through my favorite blogs and respond to a few emails. From there, I’m either heading to Candy Shop Vintage or The Cassina Group to work. Since it’s nice out, I try to take Hasell on a walk or go on a quick run myself after work. I love to cook dinner at home, but I frequently find myself meeting friends for drinks or dinner around town!
What keeps you inspired at work day-in and day-out?
Passion. This is something I’ve been circling around and around and around for so long. What makes me tick? When I’m really excited about something (and find myself succeeding in some way – an important ingredient), the energy builds and builds and builds. When something is uninteresting or I don’t feel personally connected with it, I have zero drive to keep going or create new content.
How do you pick what topics and content you want to post about?
Lately I’ve been trying to concentrate on producing content that I’d like to read myself. It sounds like an obvious notion, but a lot of times I post things because I feel like I have to to have a successful blog. Those posts don’t come across as interesting or personal and therefore end up being a waste of time!
Is there something you know now that you wish you’d known when you started your blog?
It takes SO MUCH WORK!!!!
Let’s talk Fashion…
Describe your style in three adjectives.
Modern, neutral, bold
What are your wardrobe staples?
I think I could survive in life if I only had a Tibi black camisole and several pairs of jeans that make me feel great (distressed light wash skinnies, dark wide leg, and white flares). Add some statement earrings and cool sneakers or flatforms and you’re done!
If I peaked into your closet, what color would be the most prominent?
Black and denim, no doubt.
Are there any trends you’re excited about right now?
I just ordered a pair of cropped denim and I’m pretty excited about those. I have been wearing flare jeans since they were in style last time though, so I’m pumped to see them “officially” back!
What fashion piece would you splurge on tomorrow if you could?
Can I buy everything in Tibi’s latest collection?
Let’s talk Beauty…
What are your beauty must-haves?
Lately, Pond’s Dry Skin Cream, Tarte’s Inner Rim Brightener, and Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara.
What perfume do you spritz on as you walk out the door?
During the summer, Beach by Bobbi Brown and any other time, I love Back to Black by Kilian
What color nail polish are you currently wearing?
The Thrill of Brazil – the best OPI red!
Let’s talk Décor…
Describe your decorating style in three adjectives.
Modern, neutral, bold 🙂 🙂
If your mother taught you one trick about interior decorating, what would it be?
Well, I think my mom has taught me ten million tricks about pretty much everything in my life, BUT recently she told me to always put Spanish moss on top of the soil in any green plants around the house. A small touch that makes it look much more complete.
What is your favorite piece of art or furniture you own?
Kate Waddell just painted a beautiful piece of art for above my couch. It’s special because 1) she is a friend of mine and crazy talented and 2) it’s based on a photo I posted of breakfast with my three best friends in the universe celebrating together.
What’s on your bar cart?
No bar cart! Worst blogger ever. But I do have a little bar area in my apartment where I have high ball glasses, wine glasses, a zebra tray, my Olivia Pope wine glasses, and a painting by Miles Purvis.
Do you have any must-have coffee table books?
My very favorites are India Hicks’ Island Style, The Charleston Academy of Domestic Pursuits, and the Mexico cookbook.
Let’s talk Travel…
Beach or Mountains?
Beach!
East Coast or West Coast?
East Coast 🙂
What is your favorite destination?
Are you planning any upcoming trips?
YES! I am headed to Harbour Island in just a few weeks. Hoping to plan a few summer weekend trips around the U.S. too!
Who is your favorite travel buddy?
My BFF, Caroline
Go-to cocktail when you’re traveling?
In Harbour Island, it’s a cocktail called the Dunmore Infused – a spicy tequila drink…though I’m a sucker for anything with rum + pineapple. Anywhere else, I’m a spicy margarita or Bloody Mary gal.
What is your top bucket list destination?
Thailand!
Let’s talk Charleston…
What’s your favorite part of living in Charleston?
Some combination of the people, the food, and the beautiful surroundings (I can’t choose!)
Fill in the blank: “On the weekend, you’ll find me _____________.”
Picking up avocado toast and an iced Americano from The Daily – a new favorite of mine.
Best date night restaurant?
Best cocktail in Charleston?
White Lady at The Ordinary or Cocojito at Básico
Charleston has great Southern food. What is your can’t miss Southern spot?
I love the brunch at Poogan’s Porch. They bring biscuits and butter to the table when you sit down, and it doesn’t get much more southern than that.
Best boutique(s)?
Best activity?
Wandering downtown! I love the historic homes and shopping on King Street.
Anything else we need to know about Charleston?
You should book a trip ASAP!
