When the cardigan made its big comeback a year or so ago, I was quite happy about it! Growing up as a little girl, I always wore cardigans over dresses on holidays like Easter. So I feel like cardigans have always been a part of my wardrobe. I wore cardigans of all different colors (hello J.Crew Caroline Cardigan and Jackie Cardigan) and with different detailing, which often took the form of ruffle trim.
So, it’s no surprise that I found myself swooning over all the different sweaters styles when the cardigan came back on the scene in a big way. I love this ruffle sleeve cardigan so much because it reminds me of why I love clothing and getting dressed… I see the cardigan as a piece that has run through my wardrobe for years and has dotted my memories. Yes, I always remember occasions by outfits, among other things. I loved ruffled cardigans then, and I still love them now!
Cradigan / Turtleneck / Jeans (also love these and these) / Clutch (old – similar, similar, similar in spring yellow, similar in spring pink) / Shoes (very old – similar)
This ruffle sleeve cardigan hits all the marks for me! It’s cozy, it’s grey (for some reason, I’m always drawn to grey sweaters because they appear soft, homey, and welcoming to me), it’s cropped just right so it works with pants, skirts, as well as dresses, it’s under $75, and it’s ruffled. My do I love me some ruffles (as seen here, here, here, and so many more places!). The cardigan is from my friend Jillian’s company (name twins!) called Sweet & Spark.
Sweet & Spark might sound familiar to you because I interviewed Jillian on all things career, fashion, jewelry, and San Francisco here. The brand originally started out as a destination to go for vintage jewelry but it has been so wonderful to see Jillian grow it into so much more! The clothing line launched in 2017 and she recently launched vintage scarves as well as vintage home decor.
I styled my cardigan with a ruffled (!!!) navy turtleneck. Which is on sale! Plus comes in 5 colors. I chose the turtleneck because while we’ve had some spring-like days in Charleston, we’ve also had some very cold days as well. I could easily reshoot this cardigan now over a white sundress (also like this one) or a stripe dress for a springtime look. So often cardigans or light sweaters are necessary in the spring. After all, as the sun is just starting to warm up everyone’s bones.
I wear these jeans constantly (last seen here, here, and here) because I love them so much. They are without a doubt my current most worn pair of denim. They are currently available in a couple different styles here and here. I can’t recommend them enough + I love the button-up look opposed to a zipper! P.S. my shoes are about 8 years old but I love them and found this almost identical pair!
I’m so excited for more spring weather in Charleston! Looking at these photos, I can’t help but anticipate the trees blooming in the coming months. Stay tuned as the weather warms and I start to transition my outfits more and more toward spring styles!
