First look versus traditional wedding photos thoughts from a real bride after her Charleston wedding day // Rhyme & Reason

Our Wedding First Look

filed under:

Yes, yes, we did a first look on our wedding day! As most brides do, I wanted to go the traditional route and see Edwin for the first time when my dad walked me down the aisle but we had no choice based on our venue and the time of year we got married.

Our venue dictated that our wedding start at 6pm and since we were married on October 28th. If we didn’t do first look photos, then we would have taken all our photos in the dark! Our hearts were set on our venue so we decided the “con” of having to do first look photos was worth it. I put “con” in quotation marks because it absolutely wasn’t a con at all! In fact, thank goodness we did do first look photos because it started raining the night of our wedding!

Seeing Edwin for the first time on our wedding day was just as special as anything. I could have imagined and it really didn’t matter where or when that moment took place. All the same feelings of love, adoration, and joy were the same. If anyone has any questions about first look pros and cons, feel free to email me! I’ve talked about it with many of my girlfriends too! Keep scrolling for a look at our wedding first look… Edwin, I love you!

P.S. keep the Wedding Wednesday reading up with more posts from our special day here!

  1. These photos are beautiful! We had the same dilemma of whether or not to do a “first look”. Our ceremony was at 5PM on Dec. 22nd so it was dark afterwards for us as well but we chose to wait and not do a first look. It worked out for us and I couldn’t be happier with the photos. I love hearing how other brides choose whether or not to do a first look.

    1. Hi Taylor! I completely agree… it’s different for every couple and wedding! No matter what, you have that special moment when you see your groom/bride for the first time and it’s so magical! It sounds like you had a beautiful wedding!! Thank you so much for reading along with me. 🙂 XO
