Last Wednesday, I had the joy of sharing my bridal brunch that my mom and sister threw for me, which took place in the morning the day before our wedding. I’m still swooning over the photos! For this week’s Wedding Wednesday post, I’m revealing our rehearsal dinner at Magnolias that Edwin’s parents threw for us as well as our welcome party at The Mills House that my parents threw for everyone. The events were back to back and an absolute blast! They both definitely set the spirited, Southern tone of the weekend for everyone that wasn’t already celebrating at the bridal brunch! P.S. yes, my brother is missing from the below family photo!
Our Rehearsal Dinner at Magnolias
Edwin’s parents did the most amazing job hosting our rehearsal dinner at Magnolias! It was complete with a full Southern menu, heartfelt and funny toasts, and a hilarious surprise from Edwin’s father. I truly couldn’t ask for better in-laws and for a better party + welcome to the Eversole family! Edwin and his whole family are from California. So his parents really enjoyed embracing Charleston’s cuisine. The menu consisted of lots of yummy southern bites (my favorite was the ‘Down South Egg Roll’), buttermilk fried chicken, shrimp and grits, and pecan pie. For the florals, we decided to go on theme with magnolia centerpieces (there was also a beautiful magnolia illustration on the rehearsal dinner invitation). Magnolias could not have been a better location for the Southern fête… the food, atmosphere, and size were perfect (we had a very hard time finding a location that was large enough to hold our almost 120 person rehearsal dinner!).
Our Welcome Party at The Mills House
Everyone, except for Edwin and me who took a pedi cab, walked the few blocks to the courtyard at The Mills House from the rehearsal dinner to join all the other wedding guests. The festivities then stayed alive late into the night at the welcome party! My parents were so thrilled to have the opportunity to welcome everyone to their favorite city and to their Southern home! The party went past midnight thanks to the music of The Lowhills, the amazing company, the very full bar, and the yummy late night food (rice crispy treats are my favorite sweet!).
What I Wore to our Rehearsal Dinner
As y’all have seen here, I went for a very timeless, simple, and classic wedding dress… I said it was business in the front and party in the back! For the rehearsal dinner, I wanted to embrace my love for the unexpected in fashion. So I picked out an embellished little white dress by Oscar de la Renta. The dress was embellished with pearls, beads, sequins, and feathers and an absolute blast to wear. I carried an embellished Oscar clutch that tied in with the dress. For my shoes, I decided to keep having fun with the look. I bought Mansur Gavriel kitten heels and then found the white poufs at Jimmy Choo… I clipped the poufs onto the heels and created a whole new shoe! Needless to say, my shoes were 100% the hit of the evening and everyone’s favorite thing to talk about!
