While we loved spending the days of our trip exploring Vermont on long drives, apple picking, canoeing, and more, perhaps our favorite part of our trip was soaking in the autumn evenings. We fell into an evening routine in each town we visited. In Woodstock, we set out on bike rides each evening to watch the beautiful sunsets around town. In Warren, we enjoyed the cool, crisp fall weather each evening with a bottle of red wine and endless gin rummy. Edwin and I both come from families who love playing games so we always travel with a deck of our wedding cards (we created custom cards for our wedding welcome bags), with our travel backgammon set (a wedding present), or with both! Here’s a peak at an October evening at The Pitcher Inn in Warren, Vermont… aka our Heaven!

The Pitcher Inn
I mentioned that my sister, Sarah, (she’s a travel advisor) helped us plan this trip and, looking back, we’re so happy we sought out her guidance because we loved every single thing she recommended for us and every hotel she selected! Sarah said our trip to Vermont wouldn’t be complete without a stay at The Pitcher Inn and boy was she right. As I mentioned here, we fell in love with this charming little hotel. The hotel has so much character and is beautiful on the inside and out. Each room has a different theme… we naturally picked the blue and white “Colonial” room but there are a few other rooms I’m dying to stay in too!
The restaurants and bar were fabulous too (the homemade pasta… heavenly!). After our evening gin rummy/red wine happy hours and our delicious dinners, we returned to our room each night to build a fire and roast marshmallows for s’mores. Yes, they let you do this in your room! If you take anything from this blog post, then let it be this… stay at The Pitcher Inn when you visit Vermont (no this is not sponsored, we just loved it!).
My Outfit
I was so excited to pack my Barbour jacket for this trip (more sizes here). It was my first time brining it out of my closet this season. It felt so great being in weather cool enough to need the extra layer! A Barbour is without a doubt one of the most timeless coat styles a girl can own so I’ll always recommend one if you don’t have one already. I have a green Barbour and a navy Barbour (last seen here). That’s how much I love the brand! Speaking of layers, can you believe it’s scarf season!? My mom and sister brought me back this scarf from their trip to Peru (similar, similar). It’s so cozy and soft that I wore it the whole trip!
My turtleneck is a couple years old from J.Crew but, lucky for all of us, the brand releases classic turtlenecks every fall/winter. You can never have too many turtlenecks! I think turtlenecks might be the most flattering sweater style. The real MVP of this outfit though are my new booties. I ordered them online from Sézane and had super high hopes. Well, I’m completely in love with them! The thick heel makes them so comfortable and the leather is gorgeous. P.S. they run true to size and they also come in suede and in a flat heel style.
