Today’s post is dedicated to a few topics I love: my new denim obsession, fall florals, thoughts on what to wear during fall in the south, my favorite personalized handbag, and my go-to summer-to-fall heels. While autumn hits later in Charleston than it does in cities more north of us, we definitely experience a changing of the seasons. As someone who loves living in a place with amazing weather most of the year, I’ll never not be caught wearing blue jeans, florals, and espadrilles no matter the season.
In Charleston, this time of year, it’s not uncommon to need boots and a coat one day and a lightweight floral blouse and closed toe espadrilles the next day. Keep reading for more on my recipe for an effortless feminine fall denim look as well as my new denim obsession and why y’all need to try this denim brand if you haven’t already!

Jen7 Jeans – My New Denim Obsession
To me, the easiest and most comfortable look consists of a great pair of jeans. I’ve had love affairs with different denim brands since middle school. But the one that I always come back to for fit, comfort, and the confidence it gives me is 7 for all Mankind. Y’all might be thinking to yourself that you’re already familiar with this denim brand, so why is it my new denim obsession? Well, it isn’t. When 7 for all Mankind released a sister brand, Jen7 Jeans, I knew I had to try it because of my love for and allegiance to the original. Definitely, I think of myself and a denim aficionado so there was no way I wasn’t going to slip into a new pair of Jen7’s to see for myself what all the hype was about.
I love jeans with a fun hemline. So I fell for these scallop hem skinny jeans. I was immediately hooked! They have just enough stretch to be comfortable without stretching out after a little wear. Also, the crop is perfect. Anytime I don’t have to hem jeans, I’m a happy girl (I’m 5’4″). Neiman Marcus has an amazing selection of Jen7 Jeans. In addition, they are all under $200 with many pricing out at much less. I already have another pair or two I’m thinking about putting on my Christmas wish list.

Can you Wear Floral in the Fall?
A girlfriend of mine recently asked me, “can you wear floral in the fall?” As a floral lover, I, of course, answered “you betcha!”. The key to pulling off fall floral fashion is by picking out the right florals. In general, this time of year, I’m drawn to more muted colors anyway so it’s pretty easy. Keep an eye out for florals made up of some of autumn’s richest hues like burgundy, wine, marigold, navy, and forest green. Think about swapping out colors… Example: I switch out my light, bright colors like pink for softer, muted colors like plumb. This Rebecca Taylor floral top is so so beautiful for fall that I instantly fell head over heels for it! It is super soft too so it adds to the comfort of this easy denim outfit. Plus, a ruffle! You know I’m going to love it.
What to Wear During Fall in the South
Many people outside of the south don’t realize how true the four seasons are in this part of the country. Our fall and winter set in later than the Northeast but we still experience a major change in temperatures. Because of our delayed fall, if you live here or if are visiting the south this time of year, you might have caught yourself thinking about what you should wear. My main trick is to wear a great base outfit. And then to layer on as necessary and to keep my feet covered. I could easily slip a moto jacket on over this outfit but my base is set! Similarly, with this classic fall outfit, I can step out in a cozy sweater and then layer on a topcoat if necessary.
Don’t forget to keep your feet covered!
That’s where my favorite summer-to-fall heels come in. If the weather doesn’t call for boots or booties and I want a little height that my trusty loafers won’t give me, then I always reach for my favorite espadrilles. Remember my trick with fall florals (to find fall color tones)? Well the same holds true for espadrilles! I love Castañer espadrilles because they come in so many colors like my cranberry pair.
P.S. I mentioned above that I’d share a bit about my favorite personalized handbag. I didn’t forget! Honestly, I just can’t get enough of this convertible crossbody purse. It’s “convertible” because the strap can be unclipped so it can be carried as a clutch too. It is made of the softest leather but the price point is amazing! Also, I adore all the color options and just love the woven leather and gold chain (it’s very Chanel-esque). The monogramming is free so this makes for the perfect personalized gift to give this holiday season!
