The best dresses to buy for Valentine's Day

Little Black Valentine’s Day Dress

filed under:

Today is February 1st, which means that Valentine’s Day is two weeks from yesterday! Can you believe we’re already about to celebrate another holiday? Edwin and I always stay in and cook on Valentine’s Day because it’s more low key than going out and because we usually love the regular menus at restaurants more than the pre fixe menus that so many spots have for the holiday.

However, we usually go out to eat and do a fun Valentine’s Day-esque dinner on the weekend before or after the 14th, which is when we get dressed up (we get regular menus at restaurants this way, ha!). That night will be when I wear my little black Valentine’s Day dress. I can’t wait because I’ve been in love with this dress since the first moment I saw it at Hampden. I think Edwin will love it too! Keep reading to find out where we’re going out to celebrate this year!

I adore ruffles (as seen here, here, here, here, and so many more places!) so that was the first thing that drew me to this dress (more sizes here). Also, I love the fun yet feminine lace up detailing on the back. I often wear black in the winter. However the twirl-worthy midi length and the cotton material make the dress work all year around. If you’re feeling super spring-y then, snag the dress in tangerine! Plus, the dress has pockets, which always sells me. I also found a lot of other little black dress options for Valentine’s Day for y’all below… most are under $100!

P.S. if you’re not looking for a little black dress but love the look of this ruffled midi length dress, then you might fall in love with this pale pink dress for Valentine’s Day. It’s so feminine and dreamy! The black is a change for me this year because my Valentine’s Day outfits were pink the last two years: 2017, 2016.

Aren’t these block heels gorgeous!? They are my first pair of shoes by Marion Parke and I have to say that I’m hooked! The sole is so comfortable, which is something I value immensely in heels. I just can’t get enough of the strappy style of these beauties. The block heel means I can wear them for hours on end but they also come in a high heel and in camel, blue, and blush.

Charleston has so many wonderful date night restaurants that are perfect for romantic evenings. It can be hard to pick one! Chez Nous is always my favorite. For Valentine’s Day this year though, Edwin and I are planning to go to Fulton Five because he’s never been before, Italian food always feels special occasion worthy, and because it’s super charming and intimate. Head to my Date Night in Charleston post for more on my perfect date night as well as my favorite date night restaurants in town! What are your Valentine’s Day plans!? I’d love to hear if anyone has anything creative planned!

  1. You are so cute! I love that dress. I haven’t a clue what I’m going to wear yet. Last year we had to celebrate on the weekend before because of my husband’s work, but this year he’s determined to be here. I love the idea of celebrating on the weekend before or after and staying home day of. We’re going to Peninsula Grill this year (our go to for special occasions) and I’m really excited!
