Today’s outfit is a timeless one that I wear variations of time and time again! Last summer, I fell in love with this sleeveless shirtdress from Vineyard Vines so, when perusing their new styles for 2019, I jumped at the chance to scoop up another classic shirtdress. This time, I went for an all navy dress with lovely feminine bow details on the sleeves and at the waist. It’s is the perfect dress to slip into on a spring day for work or for play! Keeping reading as I share my love for the shirtdress and a few tips on how to wear a classic shirtdress.
P.S. The Photography Bundle, which I’m using to for the photography courses to massively improve my photography skills and for the beautiful presets to hugely improve my editing skills today and tomorrow and then it is gone FOREVER! Yes, once you snag the $98 bundle of 21 photography courses + additional presets (normally almost $4,000), the courses and presets are yours forever but if you don’t buy them between now and Tuesday, then you will never be able to buy them all together for that price again… Read all my thoughts + tips here! xx

Shirtdresses are incredibly versatile, comfortable, and easy to wear for work or a weekend day spent out and about exploring. During spring, summer, and fall travels, you’ll always find a shirtdress packed in my suitcase too because they are perfect for long days spent outside walking. This particular shirtdress has such a lovely silhouette, fitted at the top with a twirl ready skirt. The waist tie is super flattering to any figure and it has pockets, which are perhaps my favorite dress detail! I think the bows on the sleeves elevate the dress as a sweet addition.
How to Wear a Classic Shirtdress
Shirtdresses can be surprisingly versatile because they look beautiful sleeveless, with short sleeves, and with long sleeves. The hem length of the shirtdress also looks spot on when short, knee-length, or midi. Shirtdressses can be more structure, can have a fit and flare silhouette, and/or can have a flattering waist tie.
When it comes to deciding how to wear a classic shirtdress, I go by occasion. On this particular day, Edwin and I spent the whole day out exploring out city, Charleston. So, I paired my dress with tennis shoes because I knew I’d be doing a ton of walking. However, I’d also wear this dress into an office for work with ballet flats and a cropped jacket for a bit more of a polished look. If I was heading to brunch with my girlfriends, I’d slip into some fun sandals, add on a statement earring, and reach for a casual purse like a woven bag. See, the shirtdress works for every occasion!
I always love navy and blush together so I decided to style my shirtdress with simple blush accessories. I already mentioned my tennis shoes choice being one for comfort. However, I do think tennis shoes look chic when paired with dresses the right way. My tennis shoes are super comfortable and come in a handful of colors! Tip: I usually wear a size 6.5 in shoes or sometimes a 7 and in these I am definitely a size 7. In addition, I added on a blush purse, which is on super sale right now! I also love this similar purse for less!
