Say hello to 2011 Jillian and Allison! Wow I can’t believe the photo in this post was taken 10 years ago. The photo brings back memories of the best day we spent while studying abroad in college… we camped outside of Buckingham Palace at Prince William and Kate Middleton’s royal wedding. It was truly a blast watching the sunrise and watching + hearing the whole royal wedding unfold.
The photos I have from this day (from my little digital camera!) are so funny. The album of photos includes lots of us drinking champagne with our 20+ group of friends, the thousands of other royal fans camped out at Buckingham Palace, the royal family’s arrival to Buckingham Palace, and the famous kiss between Will and Kate on the balcony. We waved British and America flags all day and truly lived our best study abroad lives (take a look at our British flag glasses!)!
I have always been a fan of the Royals. I studied history in school and have always considered it to be one of my main passions (even as a little kid, I loved it!). I’m a few years younger than William and Harry so I grew up alongside them and loving them (who of my generation didn’t!?). I’ve wondered before if people born a decade or two after the princes share the same love for them. Perhaps it was because I grew up a few years behind them that I’ve always loved those two. Anywho, there is SO much circulating this week about the royals leading up to Meghan and Harry’s Oprah interview airing on Sunday, so I thought I’d share some tips on how to get into the royals. Royal enthusiasts and budding royal enthusiasts alike will love this post!

How To Get Into The Royals
Listen
Royally Obsessed.
This weekly podcast discusses all things Royals! Each week, the hosts, two royal reporters, discuss the latest news coming out of Buckingham Palace, Kensington Palace, and beyond. They make it super fun! I love their cocktails and their throwbacks when they share a piece of royal history that happened on that date. I don’t listen to this podcast weekly but it’s a great one to throw on in the background when I want a dose of the royals.
You’re Wrong About.
This podcast by two journalists is dedicated to looking back into the past and reconsidering a person or event that’s been miscast in the public imagination. They have a 5-part podcast segment dedicated to Diana that dives into the courtship, the wedding, the affairs, the divorce, and the crash. I 100% recommend giving the episodes a listen! If you’re looking back for the episodes, they were released between September 28th, 2020 and November 9th, 2020.
Even the Rich.
This podcast pulls back the curtain on some of the world’s wealthiest families and dives into their inner workings. You guessed it, there are great episodes on the royals. The podcast has a whole series titled ‘Diana To Meghan,’ which compares the two women. It’s a fascinating listen! The episodes in the ‘Diana To Meghan’ series have release dates scattered between March 17th, 2020 and December 22nd, 2020.
The Heir Pod.
This newer podcast hosted by ABC News royal contributor Omid Scobie is a deep dive into the latest stories coming out of and about the House of Windsor. The episodes are complete with insider interviews and special guests, making them worth a listen!
Happy Mum, Happy Baby episode featuring Kate Middleton.
I was so excited to listen to this episode when it came out. I haven’t previously or since listened to the podcast but I was eager to hear Kate chat about motherhood so I listened to her episode. This episode is Kate’s first and only (so far) podcast appearance, which made royal enthusiasts jump to listen to it. You can really tell Kate loves her role as a mother.
Archewell Audio.
We don’t know a whole lot about this podcast yet as it only has one episode so far, but it is hosted by Meghan and Harry. The first episode has a cameo in it by little Archie! The world will have to wait and see what these two are cooking up for their official podcast.
Follow
Elizabeth Holmes.
I love following along with Elizabeth and her royal series titled “So Many Thoughts.” So Many Thoughts is a sartorial commentary series on the royal family. Elizabeth annotates pictures of Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle with brief, entertaining, and informative insights based on her decade-long experience as a style reporter. Elizabeth is witty and deeply dedicated to her craft. I just LOVE following along. If you love fashion and the royals, then give her a follow. P.S. You can read her blog here. P.S.S. I 1000% recommend buying her coffee table book titled HRH: So Many Thoughts On Royal Style that I include below.
The Royal Family.
This is the official Instagram account for the British Royal Family. It focuses on The Queen, Prince Philip, and their work, news, and initiatives coming out of Buckingham Palace. Seeing the Queen dishing out big smiles on Instagram is so cute!
Kensington Royal.
This is the official Instagram account for The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, based at Kensington Palace, aka Prince William and Kate Middleton. I just love these two. This account is especially entertaining to follow when they go on a royal tour. In general, the account gives us a glimpse into the incredible charity work they do. It is safe to say that they are busy and do a tremendous amount of giving back, awareness raising, and hands-on work.
Princess Eugenie.
Princess Eugenie is one of the Queen’s granddaughters. I think she is just lovely! I really enjoy following along with her on Instagram. She shares a mix of personal photos and work photos with the amazing charities she supports.
ITV News Royals.
This account is dedicated to all the news about and coming out from the Royal Family. If you want to follow an exclusively news oriented account, then this one is for you.
Royally Obsessed Podcast.
If you want the gist of the Royally Obsessed Podcast but don’t have time to always listen, then give their Instagram a follow. The Instagram account gives a glimpse into their latest podcast episodes as well as royal new + highlights.
What Meghan Wore.
This Instagram account is all about, you guessed it, what Meghan wore. It spills the designers she’s wearing, where to get what she’s wearing, and how to snag the look for yourself.
Instagram is still waiting for Meghan and Harry to reemerge on the social media platform. Before they stepped away from the British Royal Family, they ran the Sussex Royal account.
