Can you believe that starting on Friday, it will be time to put away the fall and Thanksgiving decorations and time to put out all the Christmas decor!? The season always seems too short so I love to soak up as much Christmas cheer as possible, starting with at home. At the holidays, it’s often the simple joys that make me so happy including winter scented candles, festive door wreaths, beautiful Christmas tree ornaments, and more. So, today’s post is dedicated to how to decorate your home for Christmas! Dive in an enjoy!
P.S. many of the items below make for amazing hostess gifts!
P.S.S. the below “Christmas Tree” candle is from Mac & Murphy in Charleston!
How to Decorate Your Home for Christmas
I divided this post, how to decorate your home for Christmas, into four main sections: Christmas wreaths, tree ornaments, festive candles, and general holiday decor. There’s a little something for everyone! First up: Christmas wreaths!
Christmas Wreaths
Nothing welcomes the holiday spirit more into your home than a cheery wreath on your front door. One of my favorite holiday activities is going on walks and bike rides around Charleston to admire all the front door Christmas wreaths. I hope you find one below to make your home warm and welcoming this holiday season!

Christmas Tree Ornaments
One of my favorite things to do every year is to add a new Christmas tree ornament or two to our collection. I’m generally pulled toward festive holiday-esque ornaments or nautical ornaments. I think the nautical inspiration comes from previously living in Santa Monica and now living by the beach again in Charleston. I love to shop Anthropologie’s ornament collection every year as well as shop at local boutiques for Christmas tree ornaments. If you live in Charleston, then I suggest ornament shopping at Indigo Market and Celadon. P.S. I often tie a Christmas tree ornament into the bow of wrapped presents I gift for an extra touch. People always appreciate it!

Holiday Candles
The holiday season might be my favorite time of year to light candles. We have candles burning in our house every single day so I am always scooping up new candles. There are so many lovely holiday and winter scents – gingerbread, holiday spice, fraser fur etc. – that I end up craving one of each. Below are my favorite holiday candles to spark your holiday cheer! It might be hard to believe but I have personally burned each of the below candles so you can’t go wrong! Enjoy!

Home Decor
I love walking into a home, mine or someone else’s, and feeling the holiday spirit all around me. One way to accomplish this is to sprinkle pops of holiday decor all around your house so each room feels merry and bright. It’s easier than you might think! Switch out your year round throw blanket for a holiday plaid throw or drape garland over your mantle place.
Sheep Skin / Lit Birch Trees / Garland
Matchbox / Doormat / Glass Tree
Stocking / Platter / Gift Wrap / Throw
Soap & Lotion / Bell Door Hanger / Bottle Opener / Star Tree Topper
Pillow / Decorative Wreath / Tree Skirt / Candlesticks / Rattan Tree Collar
Happy holiday home decor shopping! xx
