Goodbye Summer, Hello Fall

filed under:

I’m thrilled to be saying goodbye summer, hello fall! I know not everyone is with me on that but I absolutely love and savor everything about autumn. I cannot get enough of the changing temperatures, the flavors of fall, the turning of the leaves, and the autumnal color palette. Going to college at the University of Colorado in Boulder is what truly sparked my love affair with fall… the crisp air and the fall foliage there in October is to die for. I’m particularly excited for fall this year because Edwin and I will be celebrating our one year wedding anniversary in October!

In honor of the first day of fall happening this past Saturday, I’m sharing my first official fall outfit on the blog today (although there have been a few fall-esque outfits in the last month)! My adorable plaid shirtdress is from Draper James, which is also so timely because I’m going to see Reese Witherspoon speak about her new coffee table book tonight in Charleston! I can’t wait!

I’m a plaid lover, through and through. The number of plaid button-downs and flannels that I have in my closet is a bit shocking, which is why I was so drawn to this plaid shirtdress. For one, it’s so festive for fall. Secondly, I love the idea of wearing plaid in a more feminine, polished way… this plaid dress accomplishes that! It’s also such a fabulous price for great quality. Mark my words, I’ll be wearing this pretty plaid piece all season long! I included a few other fall Draper James dresses I’m swooning over right now below…

I completed my outfit with three key pieces:

Riding boots (it’s fall y’all!), statement earrings, and a monogram tote. Reese Witherspoon is famous for saying “if it isn’t moving, monogram it,” so I took her advice and added this adorable customizable monogram tote to my outfit. My tote is from new-to-me brand, Barrington Gifts. I fell so instantly for this tote because you can customize is so many different ways as there are tons of bag patterns as well as tons of font, style, color, and location options for the monogram. You can also pick your preferred leather trim allowing you to create your perfect bag!

P.S. if you read Rhyme & Reason often, then you probably recognize my earrings from my favorite earring designer, Hart Hagerty! I just have to tell y’all that her new fall collection is to die for!
