I love summer because less is more when it comes to dressing. In the fall and winter, I like to pile on layers and I wear so many different versions of boots for so many different occasions. However, in the summer everything is simpler, which is such a welcome change. As easy sundress, a basket bag, and a pair of my 7 go-to shoes for summer is all you need for a perfect outfit. I generally wear the same shoes all summer long and have gotten the right shoes down to a science. I think you’ll agree!
Jack Rogers Sandals
I love my Jacks and have been wearing them for as long as I can remember. While I love the classic flip flops that Jack Rogers is known for, my favorite style of Jacks is the ‘Lauren’ (last seen here). They come in the cutest shades of pink, metallic, tan, and more. P.S. If you see a style you like below but don’t love the color, be sure to click through anyway because many of these shoes are available in lots of colors and if you need to look for another size, then check here!
Wedges
In the summer, I don’t like wearing proper heels as much because there are so many more fun styles that are appropriate this time of year, like wedges. I also find myself walking in more grass and elements like that in the summer so wedges are the way to go. Earlier this year, I became obsessed with Castañer wedges (last seen here) because I love the lace-up look and it’s nice to have a closed toe on chilly nights by the water (if you are in-between sizes, size down because they stretch out). I rounded up my favorite Castañer wedges along with some other gorgeous pairs out right now (Kate Spade is another favorite of mine for wedges):
Espadrilles
I wear a lot of loafers in the fall and winter because they are comfortable and so easy to throw on with any outfit. In the summer, my loafer equivalent is a great pair of espadrilles. They are similar in that they are quick and easy to slip on and that they are closed toe (which I love because I’m always cold!). I always fall back on Soludos but like investigating other espadrilles too. I found some knock-out options for you including these beauties that I wore here:
Simple Sandals
Every gal needs a simple sandal in her closet that goes with every outfit. You’ll reach for this shoe time and time again to wear with everything from blue jeans to white jeans to skirts to dresses. I recommend getting simple sandals in a neutral color that you know goes with your wardrobe like a tan, gold, or a navy.
Chic Tennis Shoes
I travel a lot in the summer because I’m a teacher so I have summer break. When I travel I like to be comfortable. I also love walking around the destinations I travel too to see the sights and neighborhoods or to get a little exercise. So, I like to pack a pair of chic tennis shoes (in addition to my Nikes for working out) so I can be comfortable without forfeiting a sense of style. Below are my favorite tennis shoes for everyday wear (I adore this pair!):
A Little Something Fun
Yes, you need all your basic shoes to get you through the season but I also love getting one or two surprising and fun new shoes for all the parties that happen during the season. I usually like to get one fun pair of heels and one fun sandal. This year, I snagged these tassel block heels (last seen here) for my fun heel and I’m still in search of my special sandal. These are so of my favorite styles out right now:
T-Strap Thongs
I hate getting my cute sandals all sandy and wet when I go to the beach so I like to keep a pair of simple t-strap thongs around all summer long. Year after year, my go-to pairs are the styles from J.Crew, LC Lauren Conrad, and Calypso so I found all those + a few more great options for me.
Note: you’ll also catch me in a lot of Nikes for working out (I love the Pegasus) as well as Chacos (I like the double toe strap style) when I’m in Wyoming, Colorado, and South Carolina (nothing beats them for fishing and other activities). In addition, I wear my beloved pair of boat shoes (I have navy and brown).
