I love taking advantage of fall and doing exclusively fall activities like carving pumpkins, leaf peeping, and baking pies. When we moved to Charleston, I said I absolutely wanted to take advantage of fall by going on a fall road trip somewhere on the East Coast. With our wedding this month (Saturday!), North Carolina was the easiest and closest destination on my list. So we hopped in the car and headed to Asheville (more on Asheville, NC to come!) for a quick 36 hour trip. One of my favorite things we did was go apple picking in North Carolina!

What To Wear Apple Picking
Burgundy Cardigan:
My burgundy cardigan is one of my new favorite pieces this fall! It comes in three colors and is currently on sale at 25% off! J.Crew also released this super similar cardigan (on sale!), which is also a staple for fall. I had such a hard time choosing between the two styles but ended up being swayed by the burgundy color! Remember my Burgundy Style Guide post from earlier this week?
Loafers
I am absolutely head over heels in love with my loafers. They are new this year and I’m already wearing them non-stop. My sister even bought them after seeing me wear them the first time. I was torn between these loafers, these loafers, and the pair I got. I still love all three but am really happy with mine. They come in over a dozen colors and are super comfortable! Loafers are my go-to shoe for fall so I highly recommend them.
Plaid Button-Down:
Nothing beats a plaid button-down. I have so many from over the years as they can be cozy and easy to throw on or be tucked in and tailored for a different occasion. Mine is from J.Crew last year or the year before (I forget!) but my favorite retailer has a handful of similar great options this year too:
Wide-Brim Hat
I love a good wide-brim felt hat but I didn’t have a brown one until I snagged this one from Nordstrom earlier this season. It has sadly since sold out but I found a few great similar styles: one, two, three, four, five.
Where To Pick Apples in North Carolina
The spiced apple cider donuts were such a treat (especially since I’ve been trying to eat healthy leading up to our wedding!). Even Edwin, who doesn’t like sweets, devoured one! We went apple picking at Sky Top Orchard, which was the perfect spot to go. It’s great for families too. They are still selling their apples and all their apple products like apple muffin mix and apple butter but their apple picking season is already over. Definitely file away as a must-stop spot for next fall in North Carolina though.
