Is anyone else already counting down the days until the Fourth of July? I know, it’s so strange that the 4th is on a Wednesday but I’m still excited for the festivities that day and for the party we’re going to on July 7th. A more low key mid-week Fourth of July might end up being amazing! Any who, do you have your outfit for the 4th picked out yet? I love a good theme and use most holidays as an excuse to dress the part. For the Fourth of July, that means wearing red, white, and blue. However, I try to avoid being too kitschy with my dressing so I’m excited to share a chic way to wear red, white, and blue on July 4th this year!

My Advice for a Chic Way to Wear Red, White, and Blue on July 4th
Honestly, I think the easiest way to accomplish a chic red, white, and blue look for July 4th is to focus on two of the three colors – white and either red or blue. Then, add in a pop of the third color for a little punch of festive color. I did this here by wearing an adorable red and white stripe midi dress. Also, I added all neutral accessories to my outfit except for one touch of blue, my blue and white neck scarf (also comes in a mini version). Clearly, I look the red, white, and blue Fourth of July part but in a bit of an understated way as I didn’t let the three colors compete for the main focus of the outfit.
P.S. I always love wearing and styling different stripes. Frankly, I think the thin pinstripes of my dress look so smart against the thicker stripes of my neck scarf!
I fell for this dress because I too often gravitate toward blue and white stripes so I like any excuse to mix up my stripes. Also, I can’t get enough of the ruffle skirt at the bottom of the dress and I think the fit is really flattering! Honestly, I like dresses with fitted tops and fluttering skirt as I’m always the most comfortable in this silhouette. Did I mention that the dress has pockets?!
Back to my neutral accessories, this woven basket bag is one of my all-time favorites (last seen here)! J.McLaughlin, if you’re reading this, then please bring it back! Luckily, the brand as a super similar purse out now that I’m equally as smitten with. My raffia sandals are from the Charleston-based company Proud Mary. If you’re not familiar with the brand, then read more about them here… they do amazing things for global artisans!
What are everyone’s plans for the Fourth of July? Edwin and I will be in California celebrating with his family! I can’t wait to see our little niece and nephew! The weekend after July 4th we’ll be celebrating Edwin’s 30th birthday with friends in addition to going to a Fourth of July beach party on the 7th. I’m so looking forward to seeing family and some of our California friends! If you’ll be in Charleston, I hope you enjoy the Patriots Point fireworks! xx
